Tidus is a happy, optimistic guy. Sometimes things get him down, and he used to be inclined to cry and get upset easily, but now he tries to approach everything in the most positive, easy going way he can. He doesn't necessarily look at responsibility the same way as other people, but he cares a lot about his friends and vastly prefers the company of others to being alone. He is inclined to being a show off, but he isn't a bad guy – he just enjoys the attention. Tidus is very sweet, and not afraid to apologise if he realises something he has said or done might have hurt someone. (He isn't known for his intelligence, but he isn't stupid. Academics just aren't really his strong point.)

When he grew up Tidus spent most of his time with his mother, who he was very devoted to. His father was not around much, leaving to travel for his work as an Auror when Tidus was about six years old. Tidus has very negative memories of his father, who prior to becoming an Auror was a star Quidditch player and was often pretty hard on Tidus and trying to push him to do better. While Jecht was trying to push his son to greater heights, Tidus is still pretty resentful and mostly associates his father with mockery and problems in his relationship with his mother (she was very attentive, and to a large degree Tidus was a pretty spoiled kid, but when his father was around his mother never paid him any mind.)

Jecht disappeared shortly after departing on his travels with two fellow Aurors, which has dramatic effects on Tidus' mother. (Another reason he doesn't care for his father much.) Still, Jecht sparked Tidus' passion for Quidditch, which has become something of an obsession.

At age eleven Tidus received his letter of acceptance from Hogwarts and has been training hard in Quidditch and enjoying the popularity that his skills and his happy nature have acquired him. He isn't the best academically, if only because he can think of better ways to spend his time, but he has good intentions and is almost always a blast to be around. (Sometimes literally, but he tries not to remind Professor Howl about that. Or Professor Ashelia. Or Professor Rangiku. And don't tell Sophie about that one time he flew through the Library, because even though he doesn't go in there much, sometimes he has to go in to drag a friend out.)

He has received some attention in the Daily Prophet during his sixth year, both as the son of the missing Jecht, which he didn't like so much, and then because of his own quidditch skills and reference to him as carrying on his father's legacy. He liked that a little more, and the recognition did make him a little more cocky than before, but he wants recognition on his own terms and he'll keep working hard until he gets it.

[Note: I grabbed the last name 'Ascalon' for him out of necessity considering the RP setting. It comes from one of the customised weapon names that didn't sound too ridiculous as a last name. Just in case you were wondering.]
